I saw a little child that fell
And on the ground she laid
I rushed to see what I could do
She spoke so unafraid:
"I climbed the tree to talk to God
To tell him 'bout my dad
I slipped and fell, I'll be okay
It's just...my heart is sad.
If my dad would only listen
Oh, how I do pray so
That he won't die before he's saved
And not my Jesus know."
I cradled her up close to me
And I cried out in prayer
"Dear Father, heal this little one
Her pain, I pray, you'll spare.
She's As A Sparrow, this, your child
Who's fallen from a tree
Though of more value, still we know
Each fall is seen by Thee.
This child still thinks of others needs
E'en though she suffers pain
I know that she and souls like her
Will live in Thy domain.
She shares, with me, her burden, Lord
I know I don't compare
To all the good within her heart
And her unselfish care.
I know there's always purpose, Lord
When people suffer pain
For how you suffered, so that we,
Through faith, in Christ, would gain.
And so, in Jesus' name, I pray
For this result to be -
A wake'ning for her daddy and
A child-like heart for me.
