Mirror, mirror on the wall
As I truly am, show me!
Reflect my heart, mind and soul
Just the way that others see.
While smiling at my image,
Feeling pride, in self-so-true,
Quite ready for unveiling
For my beauty to show through.
Then, I saw a wretched one
And I shuddered just to see.
What I really was inside,
Others, too, could see in me!
I pulled a cloak around me
As I tried to hide within.
I closed my eyes, still, I saw
The reflection of my sin.
My shameful ego shattered;
I fell broken and undone.
God took the broken pieces
And replaced them one by one.
